Gamma Iota Lambda 80th Anniversary Celebration
The brothers of Gamma Iota Lambda proudly celebrated 80 years of service to the communities of Brooklyn and Long Island. The evening opened with a presentation from Brooklyn History Special Collections Cataloger Deborah Tint, showcasing treasures from our newly processed chapter archives. A thought-provoking panel followed featuring Lurie Daniel Favors, Esq., Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough, Maya E. Latimer, and Dr. André McKenzie — honoring our past and propelling our purpose forward. For eight decades, we've lived our mission: "Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. develops leaders, promotes brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities."
Roots & Proofs: The Culture Amplified
Our signature social event — a celebration of culture, brotherhood, and community. Roots & Proofs brought together brothers, friends, and the Brooklyn community for a night that honored who we are and where we come from.
MLK Day of Service
Our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service — free haircuts, hot meals, clothing drives, and community health screenings across Brooklyn. One of the borough's most impactful days of civic action.
